A creature suspended between instinct and consciousness, half human, half primate.
At the center of this new painting – Paradiso + Inferno – there is him, the visionary chimpanzee.
He is our crudest, truest reflection.
On his sides: on one side a liquid, dreamlike Paradise, full of desire and escape.
On the other a sprawling, confused Hell, where everything moves too much and too quickly.
And in the middle… Purgatory. That sofa, that wall, that room where you too – perhaps – are trying to make sense of the chaos.

This painting is not just a work. It is a mirror.
And sometimes, the walls we have in front of us are the ones that speak the loudest.

As a wildlife and urban sketcher artist, I’ve always been fascinated by the expressions of animals. This original painting is part of my Primate Collection, a series of black and white acrylic portraits that explore the emotional depth and symbolic resonance of apes and monkeys.

Inspired by an encounter in the dense jungle, I set out to capture not just the likeness of these magnificent creatures, but their essence. In the stark contrast of black and white, each face becomes a mirror: expressive, introspective, almost human. The eyes hold stories. The features, raw emotion. These portraits challenge the viewer to see beyond species, to feel a connection that transcends the boundary between human and animal.

Every piece is unique, painted by hand on fine art paper, and comes signed on the back with a certificate of authenticity. This artwork is not only a tribute to the primal, instinctual world of our cousins, but a call to empathy, reminding us of our shared origins.

Una creatura sospesa tra istinto e coscienza, metà umana, metà primate. Al centro di questo nuovo dipinto – Paradiso + Inferno – c’è lui, lo scimpanzé visionario. È il nostro riflesso più crudo, più vero. Ai suoi lati: da una parte un Paradiso liquido, onirico, pieno di desiderio e fuga. Dall’altra un Inferno tentacolare, confuso, dove tutto si muove troppo e troppo in fretta. E nel mezzo… il Purgatorio. Quel divano, quel muro, quella stanza dove anche tu – forse – stai cercando di dare un senso al caos. Questo quadro non è solo un’opera. È uno specchio. E a volte, i muri che abbiamo davanti sono quelli che parlano più forte.

Come artista naturalista e urban sketcher, sono sempre stato attratto dalle espressioni degli animali. Questo dipinto originale fa parte della mia Primate Collection, una serie di ritratti in bianco e nero che indagano la dimensione emotiva e simbolica di scimmie e primati.

L’ispirazione è nata da un incontro inaspettato nella giungla: volevo immortalare non solo la bellezza esteriore di queste creature, ma la loro interiorità. In bianco e nero, ogni volto si trasforma in un archetipo: uno specchio emotivo, intenso, quasi umano. Gli occhi raccontano storie. Le linee del volto esprimono emozioni viscerali. Questi ritratti ci invitano a vedere oltre la specie, a riconoscere una connessione profonda tra noi e loro.

Ogni opera è unica, realizzata a mano su carta pregiata e firmata sul retro, accompagnata da certificato di autenticità. Un omaggio al mondo istintuale e ancestrale che ci accomuna, e un invito alla compassione.
