CON-STELLATIONS 2016

SOLD OUT

This is a Series of paintings inspired by the constellations of Tolomeo and executed with the "Blind Contour" technique. The size are all different, some not exceeding 20 by 20 and others not bigger than 3 by 3 cm. Made in oil and pure amber on a very thin board. The peculiarity of these small works is that the stars that make up each constellation are dots of white lumen paint. This tiny collaction was exhibited in very small rooms with a UV lamp that loaded its luminescence allowing the viewer to discover the graphics of the zodiac sign in the darkness. Signed on the back and certified.
Thanks for your visit.

¨An innovation comes with this latest research of 2016, dedicated to the constellations, which the author also created in oil with a suggestive starlight effect. On his site it is however possible to see studies of an even higher number of constellations reinterpreted in his typical style.

Artistic constellations, late medieval and post-seventeenth century.
The study on the constellations is undoubtedly a very interesting work, due to its rarity in the current art panorama. In reality, the theme of the constellation is very compelling, also due to its position as an artistic theme halfway between the more "humanistic" culture of the classical and pagan Renaissance, which still saw myth and its symbolic values in the constellation, like the Middle Ages. , and the age of the scientific revolution, from the seventeenth century onwards, which increasingly abandons this aspect in favor of geometric accuracy, to the point of transforming the constellation (obviously, into non-existent realities as astrological figures, and only convenient visions sub speciae terrae ) in pure flatus vocis
