Mio Padre

This is my father's portrait, a couple of weeks before he died. I used to like to call this painting "The Wise Man's Last Meal". The structure of the drawing started with my usual Blind Contour Drawing technique and finished with Olio.

The turtle appears at the end of the painting, representing the wisdom and happiness of when one is about to die.

Questo e' il ritratto di mio padre, un paio di settimane prima che morisse. Questo quadro mi piaceva chiamarlo prima "L'ultimo pasto del Sapiente". La struttura del disegno e' cominciata con la mia solita tecnica Blind Contour Drawing e terminata con Olio.

La tartaruga appare alla fine della pittura, rappresenta la sapienza e la felicita' di quando uno sta per morire.
